Hopefully a bargain from my point of view, sorry that you didn't get more for one of your top midfielders.

He was just on Sky Sports News aswell if anyone was watching.

Perhaps he could buy one of Rosies labradors now he's had a wage rise..........

Not so sure whats more surprising, us publiciing the fee or the OS getting a story out on the same day as the rest of the football world :!:

£50k Wot a Joke I would rather we kept him here until the end of the season, to help ensure our league one status .Then let him go for free at the end of the season,Im sure that would be worth more to us !!!!!!

Believe me that is a bargain! I thought that the figures some people were banding around of 500-600k were frankly ridiculous. But I was expecting it to be at least 100k.
I hope we have got some other contract clauses in the mix.

I guess we'll never know the overall deal, however £50k does seem a little low - I'm sure we will have clauses written in to deal to allow us to get more actually I'm not sure as we always seem to make a hash of transfer deals !

I think you could well of expected more for Johnson as there was supposed interest from a number of other English teams and also considering our current status of "splashing the cash". We're about to buy a Bosnian winger for almost £1million who rejected Sunderland to go to us and also could be getting Le Tallec and Mellor from Liverpool. Our striker Edgar Jankauskas, who has only score 3 league goals all season, is also earning 10k a week so would make up the cost of LJ in little over a month.

Although you do have to consider that, and please don't take offense to this, Yeovil Town are an English League 1 club and although I have no doubt you could compete with many of the SPL teams I think in comparison to Hearts you could be seen as a small club and could maybe be looked on as one we can get players from for reasonably cheap prices. Vladimir Romanov is keen to make Hearts the biggest club in Scotland and has shown already he has an excellent network of foreign scouts in Easter Europe and beyond, so it will be interesting to see how players from the UK will fair aswell.

I'm sure there will be future incentives on top off the initial fee for LJ such as appearances, goals and maybe even international appearances (It's already being speculated that with him being half Scottish Walker Smith has already been alerted to him).

I'm sure the exact details of the financial side of the move will become clear in due course, but until then I hope I can ease the pain of losing one of your top midfielders by keeping you up to date with his progress at Tynecastle.

50K is outrageous IMO :-( even when you consider we are a small club :-(

I do not begrudge Lee his move and say again I wish himm well :-)

I would just warn all posters about holidaying in Scotland as Dick Turpin is alive and well ;-)

I think that fee is a total joke. I would have kept him till the end of the season & let him go for nothing as someone else has posted.

You have a steal there.

No offense taken, but I think its a very poor reward. As Lee says himself, he was rescued from Football obscurity by us... I think we should have got more for re-establishing him.

The problem however, seems that Lee was only interested in Hearts because of Rix's pedigree as a Coach, (Lee's words not mine) so we had little bargaining power.

When you put that with the fact that Scots, Welsh and other Clubs from outside England can bid for 24 yr olds ahead of English Clubs its another example of how rigged the Football transfer market is and how little power the selling Club has.

It's quite ironic that as the majority of Hearts fans want Rix out and were raging at his appointment. I don't believe he's the man for the job but believe we have appointed him so have to give him the time he deserves now.

I feel it's very rare that a transfer goes through that pleases both clubs involved and usually the selling club is left hard done by either because of the time remaining on a contract or a players desire to leave.

One nice gesture recently was when Kris Boyd of kilmarnock left to go to Rangers (his boyhood heroes) and allowed killie first of all to hold out for £400,000 and aswell as this he recieved a signing on fee from the Gers of £40,000 - he gave £20,000 back to cash-strapped Killie to invest in their youth system.

£50,000?

You're having a laugh.

Though if there are the alleged 14 contracts up at the end of season we might have to get used to people going for peanuts.

Not good.

14 X £50K = £700,000.

I bet DW thought he had bought more when he bought the Club...

Reality check - a player is only worth what a club is willing to pay for him: point in question, Lee Trundle: swans reckon he's worth 1.5 - 2m, you can bet your bottom dollar there would be some soul searching if a prem club offered £750k for him - they would eventually let him go.

Don't see the club having much choice in this one, yes it's not the money we would have liked, however we lose on this one, we'll gain on others..........

So far we've won on Gavin...

but lost on Lee, and McIndoe. We also got nothing for Tarachulski or Garee, maybe a small payment for Sodje, other than that, as far as I know, the rest that have left in past 3 years, all went to non-league Clubs.

But I don't want us gaining a shed load of cash this month, as it will mean that we would be without our star striker that the papers keep talking about. So be careful what you wish for....
