| Worried about the amount of censorship/editing threats feed back that we seem to have had in a such a short time. Is it that bad ?or as a new forum our moderators are perhaps being just slightly over zealous? :? |

Not worried at all Mr G.
I had one of my posts removed last night and after reading the message that Mal sent me I can understand why it was done.
What do you mean by threats? Seems a bit of a strong word to use. |

depends on what type of forum it's intended to be - I for one tend to be quite cautious about using swear words on a forum as I have kids and wouldn't want them to see it - I'm not adverse to a contraversial comment or two though !
Depends on whether the post is derogatory / inflamatory or libellous I guess - to be fair the boys at Ciderspace (Although I still refer to them as the thought police :lol: :wink: ) had struck a good balance and it was unusual to see them delete posts and very rarely ban users.
with a new forum finding it's feet, you need to give it time to take on it's own identity and for the mods to get used to where they have to draw the line.
TBH, I think that Mal sending a mail to explain why is a good thing - if the poster disagrees, they can take it up with them off line without the whole forum seeing !
Plus the fact that they might all be on a power trip !! :shock: |

| It was a perfectly good reason for my post being deleted and I have no problem with it. Without going into too much detail, I'd posted something that shouldn't really be in the public domain so Mal was correct to remove it. |

The general guidelines are that we'll edit or remove any posts for the following reasons:
Posts that contain inappropriate content;
Swearing or abusive language;
Posts inciting hatred of any kind - racial, religious etc;
Blatant advertising - subtle links are ok;
Bullying;
Posts that contain information that should not be in the public domain;
Posts that contain copyrighted material, including links to pirated software.
We generally won't delete or edit posts unless absolutely necessary. If you do find however that a post has been edited or deleted and you aren't sure why, contact the moderator who did the edit to find out. If you aren't satisfied with the explanation, contact me. |

Yes sorry" threats" was the wrong word, I should have used the word " warnings" or "requests" that moderators have posted. Reply to next post, fully agree with non swearing etc. My post was put on here because I thought it would only be picked up by moderators. It's just a general feeling I have got that certain moaning posts by me and some others regarding club inefficiency and other worrying things going on have gone missing but there again I could be wrong. We know the club monitor the forums and providing they are not over? abusive and therefore counter productive some notice might be taken. |

We are independant of the club, and have no link with them.
In fact, approaches I have made to the club in the past for media information have so far been ignored.
If you've had posts removed on Ciderspace before, I can understand your feeling, but we're nothing to do with Ciderspace. The forum on here is under completely different management, we only stepped in to provide a forum when Ciderspace announced it was closing the facility.
If there is anything derogatory to the club posted, we've got no reason to delete it. Only if it's a completely ungrounded attack would we delete or edit it, as it could be construed as our own opinion. If we had to do this, we'd let you know by email or PM. |

Does seem odd then that posts relating to the Tiverton game are being amended if the Club have not been in touch.
It does help fans to understand the 5-2 scoreline last night if they know we played with 10 men for part of the game, even if the Ref has decided not to report the matter. |
