I can't remember who it was that posted regarding AVG free before the site went down but whoever it was, thanks. I was just about to buy Norton AV.

| That was me. I've been using it for about 18 months without any problems (or viruses). |

| I can't see the point in wasting money on software when there's a free alternative. |

I understand AVG is going to be moving to a charging model soon.
MS are currently trialling their own anti-virus software as a complete package, got it on one of my PCs as a beta test. They're charging for it, but no word on pricing yet. |

| That will be a shame if AVG start charging but I'm sure I'll find another free option. As a general rule I try and avoid Micros**t whenever possible. |

AVG already have a paid for anti-virus package. I had it on an old machine. Some sad porno git broke through it though and I kept getting some really crude images pop up everytime I booted the machine up.
I eventually isolated the driver that was calling in the shots and sent it to AVG and they updated their software and sent out a new download to all subscribers.
I currently have AVAST installed on one machine here. Its functioning fine and is available free for home use. Businesses have to pay. |

I run AVG with Firefox and Ad-Aware SE to keep my computer bad-guy free and haven't had any problems since I switched to that combination.
Hooray for free stuff! 8) |

I got put off Firefox because for some reason it displayed the Ciderspace Forum strangely :?
But I use AVG and Ad-aware SE without problem, I find the auto - update function on AVG brilliant :) |
