Chairman's startling answers to questions for Webb are the headlines on back page of W Gazette.
Fry said that Town had been lacking vision and a strategy for some time and needed new ideas. They have come a long way but their success is begining to burn out.
Yeovil need a stronger team of coaches and must be more selective with regards to signings to avoid mistakes. [That one really made me laugh after yesterday signing]
Contact negotiations with some of the club's players are proving a problem. Town are doing everything in their power to keep their stars but they will not break the bank.
The board view Webb's expertise as vital. Webb will be spending time on everything to do with the club except picking the side and coaching players.
The Glovers will not be moving to a new stadium.
JGW's holding has been taken over by Webb in it's entirety. it has not been broken down. There is a confidentiality clause on the arrangement but as far as the board are concerned David Webb is the Glovers owner.
See next week for Westerns in depth report. |

I am certain that we are one of the lower payers in the league, and that there are teams in League 2 that pay better, but at what cost, a club constantly having a yearly defecit, and dependent on that one cup run every 3 years to cover there loses. Should we be any different to these clubs or should we run the club as a business, which IMO we are currently trying to do.
I am sure that both JF and DW had hoped that once Skivo signed his new contract, the others would follow suit, but unfortunatly that doesn't seem to be the case, :( I wonder why? is it:
They holding out for more money
They are being asked to take a pay cut?
They are not happy at what is currently going on at the club?
So let me look at those IMO maybe believe that they could do better elsewhere, and therefore maywell be demanding more money, or better terms.
Chris Weale - Great Keeper - who will have no problem finding a new club at this or maybe a higher level, despite currently being No2. Providing we keep Collis, with Barker coming through, as cover we have a more than suitable replacement, and therefore if the price is right then let him go. (This would be the same for Steve Collis, if we keep Chris Weale, IMO they are of the same standard).
Darren Way - Great player, who after losing Lee IMO we could not afford to lose, if he is to go, then we had better get a decent price for him. :(
Phil Jevons - Wouldn't find it hard finding a good club who would more than likely pay silly wages, especially compared to our club, again if we are to lose him then the club should not just give him away but ensure we get a large transfer fee, irrespective of how long he has left on his contract. :(
Kevin Gall - IMO no longer a Striker, and to that end we have plenty of cover on the right hand side at the moment, sorry gally fans but if he doesn't want to sign and he wants to go and we get a fee then I would let him go :?
IMO we should use the wages freed up from the sale of Sodje and Lee to retain Weale, Way and Jevons.
IMO - Guyett, Miles, Davies, Lockwood and Terry are playing at their highest level, :x and therefore unless they can find a club who is going to offer them that golden egg, I believe they will all sign.
Lindy, Reedy, Dale Williams, Rosey, Cullingford have yet to prove themselves at this level, so should be grateful at what is being offered, providing they are not being asked to take a massive wage cut.
Maybe wrong, but Kev A, Matty H, Dave Poole, Luke O, Nath J and Pablo I would assume are not out of contract and therefore we have no concerns at the moment.
OK so, we have a new CE who I am lead to believe thinks some of our players are earning more than they are worth, and he therefore is introducing a wage structure. IMO this should also include paying the better players a better wage :)
I started by quoting JF statement, and IMO (Hopefully), he is only talking about 3 or 4 players. |

| I really don't think we should break the bank just to keep a few "star" players and I'd much prefer a financially stable club to one that throws money they haven't got at players. For me it's simple, either you want to play for YTFC or you don't. If you don't then you know where the door is. |

Totally agree with what you say. :(
However not many players play for a club because they love it, more because of the money, whether we like it or not it is about money.
We need to ensure that we do not shoot ourselves in the foot, and therefore find it hard to bring in players who can keep us in our current position, and hopefully in the future move us forward. |

Well said Mac.
I hope we can keep our best players - especially DW; but not at any cost. The club has lost good players in the past, and it will do in the future.
The key is making decisions on a firm financial basis, while sensibly looking for, and developing, talented players - as we did with Johnson, Way and others, and as we are doing with Matty and Pooley (not to say that Dazza has finished his development ;))
I NEVER want to see Yeovil in a position of recievership for any reason. Some fans laugh at that and say it doesn't matter - but many of those 'fans' have hardly been to see a game in their lives and have not been in a position where the club they support is so close to folding. |
