Looking back on yesterdays game , I must admit that I was very disappointed as I came out of the ground , as I believed that we should have made better use of the chances we had and could have had the game won even before they scored .
Kevin Amankwaah certainly didn't seem to be fit , or at least he was not confident enough to go on any of his long runs down the right . This reduced our attacking options and we suffered as a consequence .
All through the second half I was trying to work out how Nathan Jones and David Poole were sorting out their defensive duties . Admittedly not in a very good position to see from behind the goal we were attacking , it almost seemed at times as if we were playing with two left backs with Polle marking their right midfielder and Jones spare . Of course if their player pushed forward we were pushed even further back .
I don't know what the percentages were but we seemed to be losing an awful lot of headers , both at the front and at the back , and as a consequence we seemd to be on the back foot a lot .
When the ball was pumped forward to the front two , the middle two in midfield seemed to spend a lot of time just sitting back and so there seemed to be a large gap between the forwards and the midfield . This sitting back then turned itself into backing off when they had the ball and with neither Davies , Terry and Poole looking to make a tackle we seemed to be backing off all the time .
Finally , I also thought that Thommo was outfoxed yesterday as well . You could argue about the strength of the two benches , but when Danny Wilson made substitutions they soon bore fruit , indeed two of his combined for their goal , whereas Thommo seemed to wait and wait until he made his . Indeed I think he waited far too long , he should have made a change before they scored . We had not really been putting anything together all half when they scored , so I think he could have changed it around a bit just to get someone fresh on the pitch . That would have got them thinking about us , rather then us thinking about what their subs were going to do . Perhaps one to put down to experience .
Probably over-criticial as usual , and yes , I would have accepted a point if you had offered it to me before the start of the game , but as I came out of the ground , and as I still think now , I see it as game we should have won , not comfortably , but won nonetheless . |

| You call it moaning , I call it constructive criticism , and as for the rain , well , that goes without saying , and you can only get wet once , makes a change from sitting in the Bartlett Stand ! |
