At the beginning of the season I would have hoped that we would have walked away from that pethetic excuse for a Hockey Stadium sorry Football Ground with at least a draw. :?
Looking at the table in the morning, and after seeing their recent results I thought that it was an away banker, and at Half Time I would have put my house on it.
So what went wrong, well for me our Midfield just retreated and retreated, which not only allowed the opposition to come onto us and gain so much room when they picked up the ball, but created a gap the size of the Grand Canyon between the Midfield and Forwards.
The goal they scored was a good break away goal, but those that made the mistakes (that could have been avoided) know who they were and were certainly told by one or two players.
Individual performances were good in places put poor in others:
Steve C - Didn't seem to have a lot to do, as the defence once again stood their ground.
Kev A - didn't look fit, and rarely went running down the wing, maybe because he was worried that there would be no cover, maybe he was just struggling.
Skivo - Was superb my MOTM by a mile, and a great goal, that I bloody missed.
Scott - Played well alongside Skivo.
Nath J - Had some good runs but at times was caught out of position or chose the wrong option.
Arron - On the day that he was asked to stand up and be counted, IMO didn't and has had better games.
Chris C - Worked hard and could/should have scored.
Paul T - For me the weak link, could not cope in the roll he was being asked to do, gave the ball away far to much and also failed to close players down.
Dave P - Looking better the more he plays, think we have found our problem to the left hand side of midfield.
Matt H - Once again another 110% performance, but unfortunately without much luck, if Lindy had put in a better cross at the end, he would have had clear header on goal from the far post.
Jevo - Ran is heart out, and looked frustrated at being removed, missed a guilt edge chance, was suprised to see him go off.
Subs (which for me didn't work or change the game)
Gally - Once again brought nothing to the party, especially playing in the strikers roll, what is it 3 goals in 2 seasons - says it all.
Lindy - Wasn't impressed last week and certainly nothing that he did yesterday makes me change my mind, looked lost and at times got in the way. Put in a very poor cross that hit the top of the bar, if he had bothered to look up and show some composure, he would have seen Matty at the back post totally un-marked.
Conclusion - They are a very poor team who depend on one individual, who may not be at the club next week, and IMO they will be relegated, we let them off the hook and therefore IMO 2 Points LOST
Though at the end of the season it maybe 1 point gained.
Sorry if this is not the way you saw the game, but as always we all see things differently. 8) |

I wasn't at the game, but I do agree we could have tried harder. Although McDonalds are hard to beat at home, we could have come home with a better result.
Hopefully by the end of the transfer window we can have a team that gels together better and can convert more chances.
I think our problem is that when we are one up, the team feels the game is in the bag, and switches to a defensive stance, rather than a combination. Therefore any chances of getting back towards their end are missed. |

2 points lost. Their defence was positionally poor and we, yet again, failed with the final ball (will everyone stop talking about 'quality strikers' - they will need the ball to score....). What worried me, in addition to Stew's comments above, was our tendency to play the ball long - why have we stopped playing the beautiful game?
Too many players with too little confidence at the moment.... |

We usually accept a point away from home and and hope to win the home games.
In this league, we cannot win so many home games therefore, away to the bottom club, we need 3 points if we hope to survive the relegation dogfight.

| Pretty much agree with your views Stew. I also think that Paul Terry is playing a league higher than his abiliy. |
