I see that the the Football League are to ban smoking from the 2007/2008 season.

I don't smoke but I think that football clubs should be able to accommodate ALL fans. Smokers, drinkers and, perhaps, people who swear (a lot).

Stadia should be able to have an area set aside for those who wish to smoke but only if it is impossible for smoke to drift to where non-smokers and children sit/stand. Perhaps an exclusion zone would need to be created.

Parents shouldn't wish to take their children to the terraces. As weklla s the smoking and occasional drunkard, some foul-mouthed supporters are quite offensive. Theyt seem to forget that women and children are within earshot.

The smoking ban must be better than what we have now. I just think a better solution could have been found.

:)

I don't think there is anything wrong with parents taking their children onto the terraces so long as they are prepared for the language and whatever. I'm a teenage girl and to be honest I said as much of the language as anyone and there were few songs I didn't join in with but with children it is a bit different, though my little brother was with me and he just ignored it. My dad knew thats what happened on the terraces and told us not to repeat the stuff outside of football. I don't think parents should just not take kids onto the terraces because people smoke and swear and you get occasional drunks or you may as well lock your kids in a room and leave them there. So long as parents are prepared and know what is going to be said then I think there is nothing wrong with it.

I can agree with most of your points and I don't pretend that children are whiter than white. They should be protected from harmful smoke - not only in public places but at home as well.

Most of the swearing is broadly 'acceptable' but some of it is so unnecessary.
