Sorry to be the complainer here, I was listening to (Dr)ivel FM this morning on my way in to work and heard you on the show. (By the way, Ivel is about the only station my car radio picks up so it's not through choice !!)

Have to say, this is probably the only time a lot of Somerset get to hear about the glovers, so please in future try to get things correct - The hearts manager is definitely not BRIAN Rix, and LJ was sold for 50k (as per the official site) not £60k.

As a supporters club representative it make you look a little out of touch if you get two widely avaialble facts wrong in the space of 1 minute.

That's local radio for you, full of adverts, naff music and amateur presenters.

My apologies for these two mistakes.

The Rix error was a slip of the tongue - sorry. As for the £60K. Yes the club did announce it as £50K but other sources have said £60K. Was just trying to be optimistic.

I do not pretend to be a professional presenter. I was asked by the station to appear on the show. I do enjoy it and spend a lot of time preparing for it.

I do though apologise if I have caused you offence with these two errors.

Don't worry about it Ali. I am sure you caused no offence.

Having done it myself. I know how nervy it can be on the radio. We all have and will make mistakes.

Thanks Mal.

It is something that I enjoy, but you're right, it is nerve wracking.

I hope though that on the whole people enjoy the slot.

I don't get it up here in the Peoples Republic of Bristol, but I am sure you are fine on the slot. It's good that it's a fan as well, always a good perspective rather than the "official" type of thing all the time.

Ali,

No offence caused to me - just thought that I'd point it out. As I said, acting in your official capacity on the radio and getting a couple of key things wrong creates the wrong impression. It's no point being optimistic, when half the people in Yeovil know the correct amount of transfers etc - just makes people wonder what "inside" information you have and why you think differnet...........

I had seen figure of £60K in Western Gazette (Website) yesterday where Steve Thompson apparently quoted the figure:

"Lee would have been out of contract in the summer so he was never going to move for the fee that some people have been speculating about. £60,000 from Hearts was the only offer we had since the Swansea City one in August and I want to make it clear that Lee would have gone in the summer anyway whether Gary Johnson, Steve Thompson or David Webb was here or not."

Whether this was an error on the paper’s behalf I don’t know, but having seen it I thought perhaps the popularist view had been understated.

All in good faith.
