The day before London had been awarded the 2012 Olympics in Singapore. I still remember the morning of the 7th July 2005, I was watching Sky News and I remember hearing about a power faliure at Aldgate and an incident at Edgware Road and when Sky went to Stratford at 9.30am it was announced that the Underground had closed down. Switched on BBC1 at 10.17am and I saw a map of Zone 1 on the TV screen and it was reported that this was infact a terrorist attack. We must never forget what happened that July day, one year ago.

I remember driving back to work from a job and hearing about the 'power failure' on the underground.

There seemed to be a lot of confusion, and there seemed to be random stations on different lines being affected. I remember thinking (and saying to a work colleague) that something major was happening and had nothing to do with the power surge mentioned. I tried calling a couple of friends in London, one of them works in the British Library, couldn't get through to either. Once the bus incident had been leaked, it was clear it was some kind of attack.

The rest of the day mainly consisted of work colleagues crowded round the radio and monitoring the news sites.

I hope that nothing like that ever happens again. Unfortunately in the current climate, it's more a case of when it'll happen, rather than if.
