According to the Grimsby Town Official Site, ex-Mariners' boss Russell Slade is the favourite to take the job at Huish Park. It is reported that Slade who resigned today may want to take No 2 at Blundell Park Graham Rodger which could cause problems as chairman John Fry has stated that he wants first team coach Steve Thompson to carry on as assistant manager. It would say it's quite likely that Russell Slade will be our next boss, in all fairness he stopped the rot at Grimsby and they nearly went up this season. If he's the man that JF announces next week I'll be OK with it. Assuming our next boss in Russell Slade and he wants to bring his No 2, as it says in the report JF wants to keep Thommo as the Yeovil AM which could mean that Slade would have to decide whether he can work with Thommo. |

Russell Slade!
All I can say is what is the point in paying so much to make a perfect playing surface only to bring in a manager who will play football in the air?
I am not looking forward to watching hoof ball for the next couple of seasons! I know we have been spoilt with the quality of football so I can not understand why the club would bring someone in who will change the style and flair that has brought the club so much success and has been so revered by the football community.
He may well have stopped the rot at Grimsby but he has no real record or experience at this level and IMO is a big risk for the club to take on.
So as you may guess he will have to win me over………what shall I give him 10 games? :?
Of course this could all just be press talk and another name may appear before long as there is no rush! :x |

Notts County were a Championship side when he managed them.
I will judge who ever it is after 10 games, not before he has arrived. |
